Sopranos

Jamie Abrams is in her sixth year of teaching public school choir in the Houston area and has been an active participant in choral music in Texas since elementary school. Jamie graduated Cum Laude from The University of Houston Moores School of Music in 2005 with a Bachelor of Music. Following graduation, Jamie served two years as an assistant choir director at Cy Fair High School in Cy Fair ISD, followed by three years as the head choir director at Dekaney High School in Spring ISD, where choirs under her direction won "Best In Class," "Best in Festival", and sweepstakes ratings in local competitive festivals. For the 2010-2011 school year, Jamie has decided to switch gears to explore the realm of middle school choral music at Bailey Middle School in Spring ISD. Jamie is active in the Texas Choral Directors Association, the American Choral Directors Association and frequently volunteers her services to the Texas Music Educators Association, where she recently served as a clinician for young teachers. For the past decade, Jamie and her husband Erik have enjoyed making music together in choirs across the Houston area.

 
Camille Belcher

Camille Belcher, Soprano, is beginning her 7th season performing with CANTARE Houston. A native of Houston, she has sung as a staff singer at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church under the direction of Brady Knapp and Courtney Daniell-Knapp and toured England with Palmer in both 2004 and 2007.  She also performed with Palmer at the ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) national convention in 2007 and has participated in the RSCM America (Royal School of Church Music) training courses with the youth.  She was a member of the Houston Bach Society Choir for a number of years under the direction of Bob Lynn and toured East Germany with the group during that time.  She is also a repeat guest soloist at Hosanna Lutheran Church.
 
Camille holds a BA degree in Advertising from Texas Tech University with a minor in Music, as well as a BA in French from the University of Houston.  In addition to singing, Camille works as a Marketing Specialist for Baker Hughes in the oil and gas industry.


Blair Doerge

Blair Doerge, soprano, is a student of Anne Heath-Welch. Recently, she performed the role of Abigail in Robert Ward's The Crucible. Other operatic roles include the title role in Suor Angelica, Mimí in La Bohéme, Fiordiligi in Cosí fan Tutte and Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. Equally at home on the concert stage, Blair has been the soprano soloist for Mozart's Requiem and Dubois' The Seven Last Words of Christ with the A&M United Methodist Church chancel choir and chamber orchestra, Brahms' Neue Liebesliederwalzer with the Houston Masterworks Chorale and Fauré's Requiem under the baton of Joseph Flummerfelt with the Sam Houston State University Chorale. Blair is the recipient of the prestigious Grady Harlan Award from the Texoma NATS convention and recently won the 2010 Edward Baird Singer of the Year competition at this year's Texoma NATS convention in Abilene, TX. Blair has also been a finalist for the Lois Alba Aria Competition, a national semifinalist for the Classical Singer Convention University Competition and a district finalist for NATS artist awards competition. This summer, Blair will attend the Taos Opera Institute in Taos, New Mexico to further her operatic studies. Blair is very excited to sing with Cantare for the first time.


Erin Doty

Ashlie S. Driver, MM, Soprano - Ashlie Driver is the Director of Worship Arts at Spring Woods United Methodist Church where she directs the adult, youth and children’s music and drama programs and coordinates worship services. Previously, Ashlie was Director of Choral Activities at Westfield High School for one year and Assistant Director for five years. While teaching, Ashlie’s choirs consistently received high ratings at UIL competitions and Festivals. Ashlie also served as Director of Children and Youth Music at Northwoods Presbyterian Church for three years and Choir Director at Christ the King Episcopal Church for one year. She also teaches private voice lessons.

Ashlie received her Bachelors in Music Studies from The University of Texas at Austin in 1999, and then was awarded her Master's in Music Education with an emphasis on Choral Conducting at the University of Houston in 2004. She has studied conducting with Dr. Charles Hausmann, Dr. Betsy Weber, and Dr. Suzanne Pence. She has also served on the Houston Chapter of the Chorister’s Guild Board as the Publicity director, and is the president of the board for 2010-2011.

Ashlie is a charter member and past board member of Cantare Houston. She has performed with a number of Houston area choruses and is a requested soloist for many special services and events around north Houston. She has sung overseas in Germany, England, Mexico, and most recently in Rome, Italy with the International Church Music Festival where she also conducted the Spring Woods Choir in one of the Papal Basilicas.

Ashlie is the proud wife of Steve Driver, and mother of three children, Madeline (7) Travis (5) and Elise (22 months). They are the joy of each day!


Emily Tallant

Emily Tallant is a freelance musician & flute teacher in the Houston area. She also enjoys the freedom of owning her own business as a future Sales Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics. Prior to receiving her M.M. Music Education at University of Houston, Emily taught Middle School Choir in Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. While at University of Houston, she studied choral conducting with Dr. Charles Hausmann, sang with Choral Artists, played flute in the AURA Contemporary Ensemble, and studied flute with Dr. Kimberly Clark. She also holds a B.M.E. in Music Education with an emphasis in flute and voice from The University of Tulsa. Emily has sung with CANTARE since its second season and also enjoys playing flute with the choir on occasion.
